Editorial policy
What to do when the lights go out, a three-day kit sized for your home, the payment you may be owed and how long food stays safe. From UK official guidance.
- Sources. We use primary and official sources (legislation, authorities, public documents). We do not copy text from other commercial websites.
- Checking. Figures and deadlines are checked against the source before publication, and pages carry the date they were checked.
- Independence. Content is not paid for by anyone and does not recommend products or platforms. If affiliate links or ads ever appear, they will be clearly labelled.
- AI-generated content. The texts are generated by an artificial-intelligence system from the linked official sources and checked against them; they are not reviewed one by one by a person before publication. Calculators use fixed, tested rules, not AI estimates. We state this in line with the transparency rules for AI-generated text in the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, Article 50).
- Updates. Pages are re-checked periodically; important changes appear in the change log.
